DNA Production’s «Short Drones» series now comes out of sleep. After brilliant «Arachnophobia EP» by Somnium, it’s continued with «Somewhere Out There, Deep» by Alex_Tiar, another Belarussian project, new to DNA Production.

«Somewhere Out There, Deep» exploits an underwater theme. It arises in the first track of the same name where something dark and unknown breathes waiting under tons of drone layers whose heavy sound create severe atmosphere. The second track «Submarine K-107» is a claustraphobic fearsome virtual nine-minutes experience of being locked alone in a slowly dying submarine.

«Somewhere Out There, Deep» is a part of «Short Drones» series – «Short Drones Part XI».

Information: the paradigm around which technology-saturated societies are built and defined, lying on the core of any social, cultural, or political manifestation. Alex Tiar is one of the artists most concerned about information and the way it defines any communicative process in the modern world, creating sonic and visual artistic statements that explore digital data as a new space with structures to be inhabited: information as habitat. A parallel might be drawn between Alex Tiar and the early works of the Hafler Trio . Both artists have explicit worries about the classic mind/body dichotomy, trying to bridge the sensory world of physical energy with a parallel world of pure digitized data. Both are constantly pointing out the material nature of sound and challenging human perception by exploring the boundaries of the range of human hearing. Both try to integrate sound, image, and source code by means of deconstructing the invisible substance the digital world is made of. Individually, however, while the Hafler Trio attempts to represent the macroscopic world of informational-made virtual spaces connected through networks ), Alex Tiar’s work has tried to reach the microscopic realm of bits, the digital atomic scale, birthplace to anything that can be created and conceived in post-industrial societies.

Мрачный клаустрофобный альбом, где в потоке гула бьются то медленно, то по-сумасшедшему статические щелчки трупных мух. Они, эти мухи, пытаются пробиться к слушателю с той стороны мембран колонок или наушников (кто что использует для прослушивания). Не могу сказать, что данный альбом меня чем-то поразил, и поэтому буду краток. Слушать можно, если нравится подобное.
