There is an ambience which surrounds you even as it exists within you. A place of dark emotions. Hate, lust, pride, intolerance. A powerful emotional burden.

You awaken from a sickness-induced sleep to find yourself lost in an unfamiliar wilderness. You sense a presence. It is around you, within you – a feeling of darkness and anxiety, the presence is you.

A landscape is revealed. A place of dark sexuality, forbidden desires and primordial sins.

Slowly developing loops of heavy drones and vast soundscapes filled with chants, moans and other human sounds produce an intensity of sonic presence. A place you will come to know as Carcosa.

Inspired by the short story «An Inhabitant of Carcosa», about a man who awakens to find he is long dead. The author, Ambrose Bierce vanished without a trace under mysterious circumstances.

Lost in the weird dreams, push your way through swaying strata of gluey air. Lost behind the summer, listen how life is crawling past while you’re sitting locked in an opalescent bulb. Time streams go by swiftly making you feel yourself vertiginous. «The Lost» is the soundtrack for your grotesque dream of being lost outside the time.

You’ll be wrapped up with claustrophobic drones which are intolerably long and shuffled with everyday noises. Drones will lock you inside gluey bulbs to force you to sit and watch how sounds of world around slowly die away eventually leaving you lost outside the time.

A pure improvisation collaging field recordings of the seemingly mundane and everyday world with electronic sounds which arise from an ever-changing configuration of virtual machines.

An improvised sonic sculpture – evoking an imaginary world, brought forth by the artist in real time. A pandemonium of creaks, knocks, taps, voices, cries, noises, drones, and low-frequency vibrations.

Has a black ship wandered from a course in an unknown ocean? Or is a white airplane flying to obscurity through roaring winds? With Grove of Whispers the musician’s imagination springs to life. It’s your turn to immerse yourself in this world. Take the ticket. Destination? The dark and hidden recesses of your mind.

This work consists of field recordings but while the recordings were taken in a railway area it should be called urban recordings or something like this.

Aural perception of railway’s ambient space in first track is more contemplative, clear and aerial. Birds, rain, children’s voices fringed massive sounds produced by railway coaches and diesel locomotives.
The second track looks a bit abstract. Various sounds of industrial nature, mechanical noises, creaks make it more noisy, heavier in sound, and it looks like acoustic snapshot of true industrial ambience.

All recordings have been made at a poplar alley near Zheleznodorozhnaya (Railway) street, Kamensk-Uralsky, Russia in October-November 2014.

Кромешна gets back to DNA Production with another murky and deep work, a snapshot of the world around – at this time and at this place. 37-minute-long piece of hum, noise and hubbub from working windmill’s machinery with bird’s twittering in the fields around – that’s «Ветряки», windmills in Russian.

«Ветряки» is not just a field recording. On the contrary, this is self-sufficient system full of industrial noises and heavy drones. That’s a particular feature peculiar to Kromeshna/Кромешна. This project’s works are always uneasy and always gazing into itself inviting a listener to look inside it and inside yourself as well.

It was a spot held by the dwellers in some outer space, a sort of peep-hole whence they could spy upon the earth, themselves unseen, a point where the veil between had worn a little thin…»

This quotation from «The Willows», a story by Algernon Blackwood, is a better description for the atmosphere created by this work. «Ниже нуля (Lower Than Zero)» consists of minimalistic isolationist soundscapes which split up into myriads of noises of uncertain nature. Weird, cold, incomprehensible – it’s something beyond human perception.
