Berthelot – «Les trous noirs de l’espace sémantique»

Berthelot - «Les trous noirs de l'espace sémantique»Cat.# … DNA 178
Release Date … 02.02.2016
Genre … Electroacoustic, Post-Concrete
Type … FLAC Lossless

Black holes of the semantic space (les trous noirs de l’espace sémantique) are related to the dialogues of the deaf, a common activity on this strange planet.

In this album, the sounds come and go, hesitate, disappear and then they reappear more far in time. They are trying to avoid, but also they are scrambling to finally get lost in space, without even trying to harmonize.

These chaotic soundscapes act as a reflection of our society of hyper-communication in which the informations, the messages, all the words, and all the data get lost anywhere.

Nobody try to understand and everything always ends in a great dialogue of the deaf, each arguing for oneself, and ultimately the knowledge is lost in the black holes of the semantic space.

Tracks 1 to 7 recorded in November and December 2015; music by Berthelot.
Track 8 recorded in January 2016; music by Berthelot & Launay.

Paul Minesweeper – «Kingdom Of Grey»

Paul Minesweeper - «Kingdom Of Grey»Cat.# … DNA 176
Release Date … 21.07.2015
Genre … Drone Ambient
Type … FLAC Lossless

In his «Kingdom Of Grey» Paul dedicates its stream to Saint-Petersburg and life in its general sense – both are monochrome – white and black events, from time to time.

Solid and soft drone collaborates with low-frequency self-consistent foundation, which is very close to common music in its origin.

Without focusing on events, it stays endlessly grey – pure balance of happiness and sufferings. But at the same time any person can find something private in this stream.

There’s no place for deep meaning and the whole work is done for listeners, their reflective minds and exploration by themselves.

Tracklisting:

  1. Paul Minesweeper – The Sands Of Time (05:32)
  2. Paul Minesweeper – Sky Train (Magenta Fields Pt.II) (09:57)
  3. Paul Minesweeper – Winter Takes It All (06:35)
  4. Paul Minesweeper – Kingdom Of Grey (09:13)
  5. Paul Minesweeper – White Night (09:24)

Igl00 & lost-radio – «Untitled Scenes IV»

Igl00 & lost-radio - «Untitled Scenes IV»Cat.# … DNA 175
Release Date … 09.06.2015
Genre … Drone
Type … FLAC Lossless

After a half of a year Igl00 and his collaborator lost-radio continue «Untitled Scenes» series with new work called simply “Untitled Scenes IV”. New work is as short as previous «Untitled Scenes III» and there are some similarities between them. Differences are spotted though but they look like logical development of ideas presented in the previous works.

Igl00’s part remains on the side of minimalism and isolationism wrapped in a veil of unostentatious hum. Two tracks are made in the usual Igl00 manner, this time maybe more chamber-like: less space and details, more transparency and concentrating on main lines of music development.

lost-radio’s part is more diversified. «Scene XII» looks like dense and complex track made in the style very close to drone ambient. On the contrary, «Scene XIV» is much closer to Igl00’s tracks in sound and atmosphere. Here is a lot of noise, the same minimalistic approach and similar isolationist disposition.

Tracklisting:

  1. Igl00 – Scene XI (07:36)
  2. lost-radio – Scene XII (08:11)
  3. Igl00 – Scene XIII (07:02)
  4. lost-radio – Scene XIV (07:13)

Kolpakopf – «INFERIAE»

Kolpakopf - «INFERIAE»Cat.# … DNA 174
Release Date … 22.04.2015
Genre … Dark Ambient
Type … FLAC Lossless

This time Kolpakopf brings us to the edge of underworld. His new work «INFERIAE» sends to ancient grave rituals of bringing sacred offerings to the beings of underworld – to the spirits of the dead. Arisen from the depths of time, these rites transformed to sacrificial practices, from horrible Phoenician human sacrifices to harmless Christian oblations.

What is the essence of these practices? What does it mean for people who donate now and offered blood sacrifices in the past? What the difference between a savage who brings grains to the dead and a modern man who lays a wreath on a grave? And is there a difference?

Kolpakopf doesn’t offer any answers. His «INFERIAE» just helps to keep the doors half-open, helps to descend to your own inner underworld, and helps to see the roots of those rituals, to see obscure paths from the present to the past.

Tracklisting:

  1. Kolpakopf – Untitled (41:53)

Lilly – «Forest Of Utopias»

Lilly - «Forest Of Utopias»Cat.# … DNA 171
Release Date … 14.03.2015
Genre … Drone Ambient
Type … FLAC Lossless

Drone ambient is perfectly suited to be a tool for reflective minds in their search for paints to draw pictures arising in their imagination. In the «Forest Of Utopias» drone ambient soundscapes contrast with sharp radio noises, touches of melodies and other sound snatches. It looks like small particles wander in vast worlds which wander in unbounded Universe, too. While small particles live their short lives inside those worlds, worlds are born and eventually collapsing in the end of their looking endless travel.

«Forest Of Utopias» offers five meditative drone ambient tracks for quiet hovering above immense soundscapes where worlds become particles in the seemeingly infinite Universe.

Instruments: field recordings, Hulusi, singing bowls, tape experiments, Mehannoizer-ST, Massive 1.1.4 – Native Instruments, Paulstretch 2-2.2.

Thanks to Ivan Pazdnikov for play on single-row accordion.

«The Black Ships». A rare bird of electronic music.

A pure improvisation collaging field recordings of the seemingly mundane and everyday world with electronic sounds which arise from an ever-changing configuration of virtual machines.

An improvised sonic sculpture – evoking an imaginary world, brought forth by the artist in real time. A pandemonium of creaks, knocks, taps, voices, cries, noises, drones, and low-frequency vibrations.

Has a black ship wandered from a course in an unknown ocean? Or is a white airplane flying to obscurity through roaring winds? With Grove of Whispers the musician’s imagination springs to life. It’s your turn to immerse yourself in this world. Take the ticket. Destination? The dark and hidden recesses of your mind.

Vitaly Maklakov – «Железнодорожная (Railway)»

Vitaly Maklakov - «Железнодорожная (Railway)»Cat.# … DNA 169
Release Date … 25.02.2015
Genre … Field Recordings
Type … FLAC Lossless

This work consists of field recordings but while the recordings were taken in a railway area it should be called urban recordings or something like this.

Aural perception of railway’s ambient space in first track is more contemplative, clear and aerial. Birds, rain, children’s voices fringed massive sounds produced by railway coaches and diesel locomotives.
The second track looks a bit abstract. Various sounds of industrial nature, mechanical noises, creaks make it more noisy, heavier in sound, and it looks like acoustic snapshot of true industrial ambience.

All recordings have been made at a poplar alley near Zheleznodorozhnaya (Railway) street, Kamensk-Uralsky, Russia in October-November 2014.

Tracklisting:

  1. Vitaly Maklakov – Железнодорожная (31.10.2014) (13:35)
  2. Vitaly Maklakov – Железнодорожная (23.11.2014) (09:45)
