Xalm Retribution – «Orbiter»

Cat.# … DNA 184
Release Date … 01.09.2016
Genre … Dark Ambient
Type … FLAC

In his new work «Orbiter» Xalm Retribution adds some new colours to his usual dark ambient palette, and all these colours are cold, very cold. Staying inside classic dark ambient borders, Xalm Retribution managed to utilize some elements typical to work of Massimo Magrini and late Akifumi Nakajima.

Now technogenous, inanimate, artificial sounds fill his vibrant soundscapes. In the waves of slow low-frequency pulsations, you can no longer find any industrial noises or guitar drones or something else you are used to find in straight dark ambient works. There are only electrical circuits’ music, singing induction coils, oxidized pins’ staccatos and conducting switches in the finally abandoned Solaris station. Shadows run their fingers over strings of crackling electrical wiring. Faulty сlimatic plants’ din fills dark corridors. Obscurity and desolation…

Kolpakopf – «Indivisible Triplicity Of Death»

Cat.# … DNA 182
Release Date … 26.05.2016
Genre … Dark Ambient
Type … FLAC

It’s Kolpakopf again, and again his work touch on the subject of death. And again the work is inspired by literature, and again Kolpakopf get inspired by mystical Jorge Luis Borges.

In «Indivisible Triplicity Of Death» philosophical reflections about significance of death in the human perception metamorphose in chaotic waves of low-frequency noise swamping lifeless and deliberately minimalistic sound caverns. Arised there and sewn together in an anxious canvas, consonances, pieces of phrases and similar sets of anthropogenic sounds slowly emerge into a wall of noise and then disjoin at the peak of their intensity. Later they appear again in another form to arise and to fall eventually.

It looks like those changes in situations and in points of view in Jorge Luis Borges’ stories wherein half-words and allusions spawn layers of implication and force to overinterpret probable development of the action. And doubtless it force to continue author’s fantasies in someone’s own way. As Borges’ stories, Kolpakopf’s «Indivisible Triplicity Of Death» offers a few of detailed patterns and provoke to interpret them before the piece develops enough to show author’s original idea.

Recorded in 2015.

Tracklisting:

  1. Kolpakopf – Untitled (24:22)

MJDK – «Hymn»

Cat.# … DNA 180
Release Date … 02.03.2016
Genre … Illbient, Dark Ambient, Industrial
Type … mp3 CBR 320 kbps

After a string of dark ambient works Polish project MJDK turns to something off-the-wall, crazy and eccentric. His «Hymn» looks eclectic enough in the combination of dark ambient canvases behind distorted electronic sounds with prolonged speeches and Scorn-like illbient loops. And the core of the work, more-than-fifteen-minutes Coil-inspired escapist track adds more diversity to this weird and somewhat unreal work.

«The song «Hymn» (Anthmen in Polish) is inspired by the French movie «La prochaine fois je viserai le coeur» (2014).
I love Phallus Dei music and courtesy of Mr. Oliver St. Lingam I could record a remix of the song «Will You Come Now».
«Filokles & Lykofron» is a tribute to the incredible project Coil. At all costs, I decided to record something in their style.
The song «London» was recorded during my stay in the capital of the United Kingdom.
«Inception» is a veritable frenzy with a speech of one of my philosophical guru Alan Watts.»

— Mateusz Jędrzejczak (MJDK)

«Will You Come Now (Phallus Dei)» by John Walker/Phallus Dei, remixed by MJDK.
«Inception», voice by Alan Watts.
Artwork by Hanka.

Kolpakopf – «INFERIAE»

Cat.# … DNA 174
Release Date … 22.04.2015
Genre … Dark Ambient
Type … FLAC Lossless

This time Kolpakopf brings us to the edge of underworld. His new work «INFERIAE» sends to ancient grave rituals of bringing sacred offerings to the beings of underworld – to the spirits of the dead. Arisen from the depths of time, these rites transformed to sacrificial practices, from horrible Phoenician human sacrifices to harmless Christian oblations.

What is the essence of these practices? What does it mean for people who donate now and offered blood sacrifices in the past? What the difference between a savage who brings grains to the dead and a modern man who lays a wreath on a grave? And is there a difference?

Kolpakopf doesn’t offer any answers. His «INFERIAE» just helps to keep the doors half-open, helps to descend to your own inner underworld, and helps to see the roots of those rituals, to see obscure paths from the present to the past.

Tracklisting:

  1. Kolpakopf – Untitled (41:53)
