Grove of Whispers is an improvisational music project of John Tocher who also makes Sadayatana podcasts. His improvised live soundscapes are generally a mixture of public domain field recordings and electronic sounds created by himself.
Descending directly from the inspiration of Pierre Henry and John Cage, the idea of the Grove of Whispers project is to relate electronic and found sounds in a way that complements them both, creating an evolving and darkly meditative space. Grove of Whispers seeks not to tell a story but rather to create a space to inhabit for relaxation, meditation or sleep.
Musique concrète of the dark ambient variety. An inner landscape just beyond the sounds of the everyday world. A world that we carry with us, Grove of Whispers helps you – the listener – reveal it.
