Das Rückgrat der Nacht (DRDN) is an ambient project of Martin Besig from Germany. It was started around 2001 as a contrast to the techno/hardcore/noise sound he mostly made at that time.
Martin Besig plays the piano since age of 6 and very early liked to explore the different sounds he could create with the instrument (not only by using the keys). That was the origin for his love of experimental music.
Since 1996 he produces electronic music, experimenting with many different styles. In 2003 the DRDN album «Synthetische Dunkelheit» was released on the Tosom label (013).
