«Exodus To The Land Of The Drone» looks like another move in Red Fog’s drifting between severe uneasy drone ambient and something like «micro-sound» ambient which was presented in previous (for DNA Production) Red Fog’s work called «Zone Of Avoidance».

The title speaks for itself: here Red Fog turns to his trademark, to the lengthy recurrent loops of heavy-breathing drones which soak everything around with low-frequency rumbling. Sometimes these drone layers find themselves massively pierced with crisp micro sounds of industrial origin. Sometimes they overwhelm, stun, deafen with multiply resonated hum fragments well-mixed and thrown straight in your face.

Each track presents its own sound snapshot of an inorganic world living its life quietly or loud. Find there soundtracks to various processes which occur right now in a tiny stone, metal piece, liquid drop or in a vast star system.

«Zone Of Avoidance» is a music of micro-worlds. Think of a world contained in a diode lamp. What kind of sounds electrons could generate in there? Think of a man who extracts sounds from such microscopic elements. Do you think of Aube? Listen to this and discover Red Fog.

There are vibrating drones inside small electric devices. There are energetic waves, electromagnetic fields, electric discharges. There is a different world with a different life inside – vibrant, gurgling, breathing with rare gases under pressure.

Red Fog returns to DNA Production with the full-length work which contains cold mechanistic low-frequency drone ambient made in an usual manner for Red Fog. But you could find differences if you listen to some of the previous Red Fog work.

«Zone Of Avoidance» is much heavy and complex in sound. At first it looks like straight drone ambient with tons of low frequencies pressing ears and brain. Further listening reveals a background hidden behind these droning soundscapes. There is that kind of drone ambient with fine touches of electroacoustic, industrial noises and seamlessly combined sound canvases provoking bouts of agoraphobia.

It’s not too friendly nor easy for listening but definitely Red Fog’s «Zone Of Avoidance» shows a great degree of balance and complexity in efforts of creating straightforward and intense drone ambient.

Этот проект всегда радует сочным, глубоким звуком и крайне щепетильным отношением к деталям. Каждый звук на своем месте, каждая гармоника надеждно вплетена в общую структуру. Серьезный подход автор проявляет и в выборе концепции. Тут вам не космос какой-нибудь очередной и не метафизика – речь идет о звуке, который гипотетически мог бы звучать в катодных трубках, то бишь радиолампах. Что слышиит электрон, выбивающийся с электрода? Как звучит пульс галогенной лампы? Можно ли услышать рождение электрического сигнала?

В этой музыке можно много чего услышать, ведь простор, который она дает воображанию, здесь очень велик. Бесконечные коридоры полупроводниковых цепей, как они выглядят изнутри. Шуршание сигналов в недрах микросхемы, олово, тающее на разогретых ножках конденсатора, треск охлаждающегося алюминия на радиаторе транзистора… Корпускулярно-волновая музыка для самых внимательных слушателей. Рекомендую наушники!
