«Selection IV» indeed completes a huge Il Taglia’s work whose first part was recently released as «Selection III». Reflective and romantic guitar-chords-based ambient constructions still prevail here as well as various vocal parts – mainly heavily processed and distorted. For the last three years of collaboration with DNA Production Il Taglia creativity remains very personal, melancholic and introversive in character, and «Selection IV» makes this very clear bringing it to perfection with unique abstract approach and impressive sound depth.

• «Blue» from Il Taglia – «Selection III»

«Selection III» is a first part of a new large collection of songs comprising an aborted ambient album (tracks 1-5) and another aborted lo-fi chaotic record with vocals as well as some other lost tracks recorded in sessions somewhere near Selection II.

In this work Italian guitar abstractionist Il Taglia takes us to journey in his personal world constructed of ambient layers and guitar trembling chords. Five «color» tracks form a strong abstract core of «Selection III» but it still remains a bit romantic as previous «Selection» and «Selection II».

«Selection II» is a new collection of songs that starts from vocals and a vague song-structure that slides sometimes in psych-rock («Initial Dawn»), or in dark ambient space («We Are Too Close», «It Could Be Real»)…2008#6 is a different take of 2008#4 from «Selection» released a year later, and the quiet «Elec09X» comes at the end.

In comparison with previous album, this time new Il Taglia work brings more complexity and depth in composition and finds new melodic structures sometimes chaotic or psychedelic, sometimes romantic and affecting.

«Selection» is a collection of songs that takes some important moments from long collections never released («Exp09» and «Elec09», the first one starts from guitars, the second one from synths), plus one trip of acoustic guitars, banjos and echoes («January 2009») and some quiet moments from «2008». A very spacey track released recording over and destructurating a song of a friend of mine…

It’s very emotional work. Light and romantic, it’s sometimes sad and very human, sometimes cold and abstract.
Melodic guitar improvisations are the core of the album. They’re the bricks for sound constructions created on unstable foundation of light ambient layers. The constructions are so light and clear, intricate and fanciful, full of shades and very logical.
«Selection» by Il Taglia is the real creative work which not needs tags or descriptions. It’s a fusion of emotions and sound design, romance and mathematics.
