Short but intense, new Accasari’s work called «Ordered Chaos» piles heaps of string chords of various kinds and origin. Piled right upon listeners, swarms of these chords oddly transform into sometimes balanced, sometimes chaotic patterns of varied emotional states. Aggressive hesitation, depression, uneasiness in first track «Sick Of It All» make way through contemplative escape from everyday stress in second self-titled track for mental isolationism and karma purge with throwing negative emotions out in final «Deep End».

In «Ordered Chaos», Accasari occasionally leaves guitar ambient territory but never reaches post-rock borders. It finds space for itself somewhere between different Aidan Baker’s works and keeps its energy and intensity of short piece, not a lengthy wandering in dark corners of reflexions.

Drones and melodies mixed dyes paint static canvases which fold and form tunnels. Enter the tunnels, feel coarse asphalt of distorted drones. They tangle you in the mess of cyclic noise loops and daze you, disorientate, get lost between walls of tattered nervous melodies. The tunnels drag you in the sonic whirlpool, lead to dead electric lights well where frenzied guitar crescendos carve a piece of irreality in dark surroundings of noise and hum. The tunnels stretch blink of camera flash indefinitely, then send you in endless flight to nowhere and eventually dump you, exhausted and enlightened, out in the tender embrace of silence.

Fracture and Wizard’s Fire, more-than-thirty minutes of guitar frenzy and noise witchcraft, a half-hour flight through dark tunnels of sonic underside.

Impassive short chords repetition collects acid clouds of disquiet and frustration. You stare inward, concentrate on chords’ black spiral which digs in pulsing tissues of memory extracting and reeling up melodies of your colourful remembrances. The black spiral exacerbates concentration and self-isolation and occasionally helps to reach various states from ecstatic burst to catatonic gazing into the void. But soon disquiet and frustration return with the snatch of sullen blues and eventually corrode it with distorted guitar screams bringing it to mental derangement.

Thick and rough chords lay shredded just like wisps of fog in the sky wrapped up by continuous grey overcast of blurry drones. The sky seems sometimes flat, sometimes deep. Like in a nightmare, it falls upon little man stretching on the ground. Or does the man fall through that grey layer of drones? Feeling of distress keeps him depressed. It overwhelms with depleting waves, wrings his entrails with hard loops of discolored guitar chords. With ridiculously waving hands, little man continues his fall upward in the bleak inhomogeneous thick layer of despair. The little man tries to hide in his subconsciousness, to tear up the whirls of distress which are pulling him upwards. Blots of sonorous chords attempt to penetrate fading nothingness but drown in waves of resonant drones while inanimate sonic wind finally disperses pale blurs of little man’s remembrances with vibrating metal strings.

Another work from the Russian project Paul Minesweeper presents a mixture of several genres created without regard to the established traditions of the Russian ambient scene. It’s also a logical sequel for his release «Kingdom Of Grey». Opposing common calm sound natural for ambient works, this release is inspired by the slogan «A wall of sound right in the face». Being in a continuous metamorphosis of the timbre, drones meet logical melodic progressions with hard electronic bass preceding electric guitar and bass guitar, which echo and highlight the electronic component of the sound stream. Smoothly flowing from note to note, absolutely arrhythmic combinations of melodies ended up with the death march in the last composition made of noise and decay.

In fact, this work is an electronic ambient for metal music fans. As in the previous work, there is no place for strict fixing on a deep meaning or for propaganda of any ideas and beliefs. The author provides complete freedom for listener to explore himself since as he considers the individual perception and reflection as the greatest right and benefit for the listener. However, the general mood of the release is clear for everyone: sympathy for the darkness in each of us, immersion in nonexistence and self-decay.

The second episode in the «EX» series, «EX TENEBRIS» by Paul Minesweeper is intended to help listeners in diving into themselves keeping this time them on the light side. Unity with nature, reconciliation in the paternal home and abdication of the past mistakes on the way out of dark – all the things everyone will need sooner or later.

Mono no aware is an artistic concept typical for Japanese culture in Heian period (794 – 1185 AD). It’s translated as «sad empathy to things around» – very roughly. Mono no aware is a state of your mind when you feel yourself in harmony with the things around. It appears when your subjective principle joins and comes in fusion with objects around you. For Japanese, it’s something calm and sofisticated. Your mono no aware can happen every time you meditate and listen to birds’ chirping, or rain, or brook murmur.

Kolpakopf’s new work isn’t as calm as the Japanese tankas but sofisticated as usual. His «mono no aware» appeals to sad autumn feelings, contemplation, reflection. High-frequency drones clip sounds from outside and make room for subtle loops of short stagnated melodies, vibrating ultra-low-frequency drones and elementary field recordings guiding you from lingering autumn rains to crackling of the fire between tall pines propping dark heavens as first snowflakes melt on your face.

The lines at the back of the cover aren’t tracklist but the tanka by Sarumaru no Taifu: «High in the mountains, a wandering deer cries in maple forest and I feel so sad as Autumn comes».

In Lab of Errors, annex of the French University of Errors, we study the science of that which is superinduced upon metaphysics, whether within or beyond the latter’s limitations, extending as far beyond metaphysics as the latter extends beyond physics.

We will examine the laws governing exceptions of errors, and will explain mistakes of the universe supplementary to this one.

Lab of Errors does not, therefore, study the rules governing the general recurrence of a periodic mistake (the expected case) so much as study the games governing the special occurrence of a sporadic error (the excepted case).

Second volume of the Reaktor Sessions (first volume here), Lab of Errors is made with faulty virtual generators, and real synthesizers heavily modified by circuit-bending.

System Morgue takes you to the Forêt Noire full of phobias, forgotten dreams and imagery trapped deep in subliminal levels. Follow dense guitar drones, dissolve your emotions and thoughts in their vibrations, submerge in sleepy meditation.

Bunches of short mechanistic loops slowly pulsate behind stolid guitar chords, boost and mirror them, intensifying sonic pressure, spinning sound waves and locking them into spiral. Then pulsation become more frequent, anxiety grows and bursts with high-frequencey guitar yells and melody shreds cacophony in panicky rhythm. Short breather after panic attack, and sound pressure takes over again. Waves of guitar chords tighten distorted melodies in an uneven helix, sometimes ascending to hysterical crescendo, sometimes collapsing in melancholic alienation.

There is something between dream and reality. There is something between sanity and madness, between light and darkness, between life and death. Probably there is an edge between two opposites, strong like a friend’s hand or thin like a thread. Can you feel the edge? And where is the edge? And if you feel the edge between two opposite sides, do you know on which side is good and there is evil?

New Kolpakopf’s work called «Между (Between)» is about it but it does not offer any answers, neither does it ask any questions. This is something like a sound fingerprint of borderline state where you feel yourself placed in a vast empty space and in a tiny dark room simultaneously.
